ˮGuitar Zlin – International Concerts in the Atriumˮ festival series is organized by The Classical Guitar Society of Zlin, a civic association, in cooperation with The Zlin School of Arts. The association, whose members are the guitar teachers and the director of the school, has been working with the school since 2010, and its main aim is to organize concerts as well as masterclasses, lectures, workshops etc.
All series events focus on the following aspects:
cultural – a concert of ca 45 – 50 minutes at the beginning
educational – masterclasses or a lecture as the second part of the event
social – Sundays, 3 pm is the standard time of the event, thus entire families with children can attend
The city of Zlin is the regional center and, at the same time, the home of The Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra, the only professional ensemble of such a type and size in the region. Nevertheless, guitar is neither an instrument of the symphonic orchestra nor a frequent guest of its concert seasons. The Classical Guitar Society of Zlin attempts to fill this gap by introducing excellent performers of the current music scene to music lovers.
